FAQs

How is T.A.A. different?

Here at Tailwinds, we remember what it was like to be a student pilot. We built this company to be everything our student experiences were not; transparent, direct, and efficient. Our goal is to make your experience earning your certificates smooth, safe, and fun. No B.S., no fine print, just growth. All of our programs are designed to get you your certificate/rating in a few short weeks! Bear in mind, if it was easy anyone would do it. You’ll have to devote time and attention to your dream to make it a reality. This is why we offer an instructor devoted solely to you during your stay and take care of everything when you get here; hotel, rental car, instruction, and your estimated aircraft rental time are all included. This way you can show up day one and focus your efforts on what you came here for: a pilot certificate!

We use the latest technology and resources to help accelerate your training, allowing you to learn faster, retain what you learn, and safely reach your goals.

Do you offer more of the traditional style flight training?

Of course! While we specialize in accelerated flight training and highly recommend flying as often as you are able (keeping your mind and skills sharp) we do offer traditional flight training. We’re here to help you work towards your aviation goals in any way we can!

Is financial aid available to help pay for my flight training?

Yes! If you are an AOPA member, you may be eligible for a flight training loan of up $20,000 to help fund your aviation dreams! Not an AOPA member yet? Sign up now for as little as $89!

Why 21 Days?

Our 21 Day Private Pilot Program is designed to set you up for success, not just pass a checkride/practical test. Our goal is to provide you with the lessons and tools necessary to reach your goals. No matter how convincing or enticing shorter programs may seem, they are rarely successful. That ends up costing you thousands in unexpected training costs. We have seen that first hand.

What does it take to get my certificate?

The hardest thing about starting flight training is the unexpected. We understand that, and can help you. Although each certificate and rating has different prerequisites and requirements, here at TAA, we keep it simple. You reach out, tell us your goals, and we guide you through the requirements and process of making that a reality. Generally, you begin by signing up for and taking an online ground school and passing your F.A.A. written exam. We can guide you through this process and make recommendations along the way.

What are the prerequisites for your Private Pilot program?

Here at T.A.A. our goal is foster growth and quickly lead our students to success. In order to set yourself up for that success, it is imperative you show up to the program prepared. We recommend following an online written test ground school, such as Kings School, to prepare. Students must be a U.S. citizen or complete FTSP requirements and receive approval prior to beginning training.

What are the prerequisites for your Instrument Rating program?

First of all, congratulations on becoming a pilot! Passing that first checkride and becoming a true aviator is an amazing feeling. It comes with some pretty sweet privileges, and now you’re ready to add some more. To start our Instrument Rating program, students must have their F.A.A. written knowledge test completed, and logged 25 hours of Cross Country PIC (as defined in 14 CFR 61.1). Please feel free to reach out to us for recommendations and/or support in completing these requirements.

What are the prerequisites for your Commercial Pilot program?

The F.A.A. obviously expects more from commercial pilots than others. The requirements are extensive, however there are many ways to complete these requirements. To better serve you, T.A.A. does not have extensive prerequisites to our commercial pilot program, it is somewhat case specific. However, students must have their written knowledge test completed prior to their start date and have at least 225 hours of total flight time.

I’m a CFI. Are you hiring?

We are always looking for talented, experienced instructors to join our team. TAA takes pride in our instruction and are seeking more career instructors who can offer students the best instruction on their way to each certificate.
